the other day, Sevenday Curse posted on their facebook page
Well not only is that an epic post to read but today they put up a sample of the new music. I
am glad to say that after waiting, damn about 15 years we get to hear new music by these guys.
Their last album was great. Had that signature Massachusetts metal sound, just heavy, melodic, brutal, music.
The new sound clip? It is killer, I am stoked and can’t stop listening to it now. I know i am not alone in saying this, but i have waited so long for this, and no one was able to pull off the same sound. So i just want to say to Sevenday Curse WELCOME BACK! I can’t begin to tell you how awesome this is. But maybe this sound clip will explain it. I am still playing this clip. Here is a link so you can too,
This just in from Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler’s facebook page.
Lots going on around here these days! I’ve returned from a killer session with Megadeth and am straight back to work with Lamb of God. Today we are working on a music video to accompany the new record and gearing up to leave next week for our European run. Feeling very lucky to have so many amazing opportunities. There are lots of shows coming up and of course, the album release is right around the corner now. I feel very confident in the record – it’s sincere and it’s mean.
More will be revealed soon but I can tell you that I’m currently working very hard trying to figure out how to be in 2 places at the same time. Anyone that’s been paying attention can follow that… Stay metal! ~Chris
So this is cool, the new song they have currently streaming is a killer track, so now i am curisou as to A) what song this video is for, and B) will it be out before the album release or the day of the album release. basically when we get to see this new video.
So my experience with Thy Art is Murder is slim, I wouldn’t say non existant, its just that I have only heard them on liquid metal. So naturally when I find out that they put out a video. I’m in, the one thing I love about metal bands is they will actually do a video. Go figure MTV does reality shows, metal bands do music videos. And they aren’t some stupid cheesy video either, they actually want their videos to say something about them. So they aren’t going to make a stupid video. They want to make every bit count. So here is a perfect example of a song and video done right. Here is a great song, really heavy not trying to tip toe around any styles, dabble in everything to make everyone happy. These guys are here to PLAY HEAVY BRUTAL METAL! So now that I have seen this video I am hooked and want to check out their album “ Holy War” due out on June 30th.
Here’s something you probably didnt think you’d see anytime soon. Metal injection has a story right now about Glenn Danzig sporting skullfaced makeup. This is something he hasn’t done since he was in THE MISFITS. Looks like he was doing a photo shoot for an upcoming covers album. Which I think is cool, however I wouldn’t be surprised to hear Jerry Only stirring things up over the make-up. As those two had a court case dismissed about a year ago.
If you want to read the story Metal injection has up here is the link, check it out share it along because ” Skeletons” could be something big.
So I figured why the hell not? If you listen to metal than surely you have those albums that you will go back and listen to and really bring you back. I know I do, and hearing about Vehemence putting out a new album, Neurosis doing a tour, and Agoraphobic Nosebleed playing at Maryland Deathfest. It really put me in the mood to listen to some good stuff I remember buying when it came out, and going to shows.
SO to start things off will be a video by Vehemence. This is called by your bedside off of the “ Helping the World to See” album;
Next will be a video by Coalesce, from the album “ 0:12 revolution in just listening” I couldn’t find any actual video footage of this song, but it’s a good listen.
Now bringing it back to 1995 we have At the gates, Blinded by Fear off of the “ Slaughter of the Soul album” This album was one of those monumental albums. I remember picking up an Earache records Compilation that had this song on it.
Now this is only going back to 2003 but “ As the Palaces Burn” came out while I was in college. And this album was one of the albums that I would listen to , while getting pumped up before my band would play a show. After my sound check I would play a song form this album or “ New American Gospel” theres something about how Chris Adler plays the drums I dig his style. At the time he didn’t do any blast beats or anything, it was just drums with great fills and solid timing. So here is the song “ Ruin”
And here is a live performance of O.D.H.G.A.B.F.E
Now it brings me to Neurosis, this song “ Under the Surface” is what got me into these guys. There was something dark yet powerful about this song.
Here it is off of the “ Times of Grace” album
Next is a band from the earlier days of metalcore, these guys were one of those bands you listen to this song “ Bitter” and you can see how far the Metalcore genre has come. Whether some of the newer bands ever listened to them or not, I would say these guys had a big influence one way or another.
Here it is Bitter off the “ Fifty ninth session” album
Now bringing metal back to the year 1999 where Internal Bleeding put out “ Driven to Conquer” So its not an official video, but it still allows you to take in the song “ Falling Down” with pretty good audio, and getting to see the album cover.
Lets go back to 1998 with Arch Enemy’s “ Stigmata” Album, the opening track “ Beast Of Man” when I first heard this song I just loved the guitars in this song. I was in the 8th hgrade and rocking out to this song off a Century Media Records compilation CD I bought at a Newbury comics. This compilation was the first of many that really got me into new bands. I think I paid $3.00 for 20 songs and this song was on there. I wish this video was an official video, however there is an “ Official” video from a few years ago. Obviously its with Angela Gossow on vocals, and from a different album. To me this may be an “ Official” video, but its not original.
At any rate here is the original song off of “ Stigmata”
And then off of “ Root of all evil” with Angela;
Another Band i got into early on was Opeth, i first heard them back in middle school and bought their album titled “Morningrise” i really got into their epic metal sound, just heavy haunting menacing vocals at times and soft sincere vocals at others. this is an art form. i have never heard another band that has the bipolar, yet progressive metal song structure as Opeth.
Here is the track ” Advent” of the Morningrise album;
Now last but not least I bring you Cryptopsy with the album “ Whisper Supremecy” the track titled “ Emaciate” which happens to be the first song I ever heard, and was absolutely blown away by Flo’s drumming skills. Still listening to this song I am in awe of the talent Flo has. Now this is with a different vocalist at the time. I will not take away from current vocalist Matt’s talent. I personally really dig his vocals the best, I think all the other guys were great and added to the albums respectively. Since Matt McGachy has taken over vocal duties I think he really adds the missing element for vocals. He has great sound, great range, and can pull off the older songs great.
SO with that said here is “ Emaciate”
And don’t forget to check out Cryptopsy’s indiegogo page as they are trying to put out a new E.P. they are crowdfunding currently. Here is that link ;
So that wraps up this weeks #TBT Throwback Thursday metal edition. Feel free to comment, offer some details about a metal song or album that brings you back to a time period every time you listen to it.
So as I had posted yesterday, Vehemence was going to drop a bomb on us today, a bomb that many myself included have waited for since 2004’s Helping the World to See was released. This is some seriously mind blowing news! As a metal fan, and a Vehemence fan this is like one of those “ Holy Shit” moments you have a few times when something you didn’t think would happen, happens.
When I first heard Vehemence it was on a promo cd from Metal Blade Records I got at the New England Hardcore and Metal fest. That year I was in college and had gone to the 3 days of bands at the Worcester Palladium. Every record label that was there was handing out free samplers and bands were too. I had, (probably still have) stacks of free cd’s ranging from 2-25 songs each. The Metal Blade Records sampler was one that would change my life forever. It single handedly introduced me to a band that I would put into my top ten metal albums of all time. The God Was Created album just blew me away, and it still does. These guys were not trying to be experimental, pulling off any different sounds. These guys were trying to decimate, to just lay waste to anything in their path.
So in continuing with their signature style of monstrous, heavy, brutal metal they have just made the announcement that VEHEMENCE will release Forward Without Motion through Battleground Records on October 27th in various formats, including a 2xLP set on 180-gram black vinyl in gatefold packaging, a CD version, and across various digital platforms.
Nathan Gearhart had this to say about the upcoming album ; “The lyrics of Forward Without Motion each tell a unique story dealing with pain, loss, sadness, and horror. Written over the course of twelve years, each piece stands alone in subject. The consistent theme of the lyrics as a whole denote humanity’s dark side, and summarize our lives and impact on our world during our limited time. Nothing changes. Nothing gets better or worse. It’s all the same. It’s time without a number. We are all going to die leaving this world just as fucked as those before us, and future generations will continue this cycle.”
If you want to get more information I have several links here to check out ;
I am personally stoked to see this as I have been waiting a decade for sick metal from the Arizona Metallers! This is one of those announcements you get and you can’t wait that long. But hell October isn’t that far away considering 10 years has passed since their last album. For this album they also have a different guitarist Kyle Moeller. The last albums had John Chavez on the guitar and while he was a kick ass guitarist, I am psyched to hear music from Kyle, as Vehemence may have not gotten to this point without him on the axe.
So I can’t wait to hear the new album as I will be getting it when it is available you can bet on that.
So to add to the list of metal albums coming out this summer, will be Battlecross’s Rise to Power album due out August 21st! If you are unfamiliar with Battlecross,, then familiarize yourself with the band. These guys toured and if you were a veteran you had a free pass to the shows. A band that gave Veterans free tickets to the shows. Now that’s a band you can respect, even if you are not into metal, a band that would do that is a bunch of pretty kick ass individuals.
They have one song streaming so far at Metalblade.com The song is titled “ Not Your Slave” , has a nice upbeat tempo. I Dig the sound from the song and wonder what the rest of the album will be like.
Well not yet, but tomorrow Vehemence has news to be delivered to us fans. I personally can’t wait. These guys are brutal, nope, brutal is an understatement. The band Vehemence, is the soundtrack for the feeling you get when you watch a movie that is a psychological thriller, get cut off in traffic, and a bar fight all at the same time. These guys put out two epic albums ” God was Created” in 2002, and ” Helping the World to see” in 2004. I Will honestly say I bought both albums multiple times because my cd players would kill the cd’s from over use. I have bought God was created 4 times. The whole album is insane, from start to finish every song just epic brutal metal. My top 10 albums of all time includes this album. The song ” I didn’t kill her” is killer.
I played that song for a guy who was big into metal, the guy was so pumped by the song and then around the 8:15 minute mark for the song. You have a sound clip that adds to the sound. I can’t tell you what it is or what it says. But what I can say is the guy I played it for, thought he would have nightmares for a week. It gives you a visual like no other. I literally want to play the song for you but I can only find a video on youtube with average sound quality.
What the hell, why not. I am so pumped its time for some VEHEMENCE!!!!!!!!
Stay tuned tomorrow, because a new album will be LEGENDARY!!!!
This is insanity, Agoraphobic Nosebleed live? I wish it was a show more local to me. but straight from Metal Injection I saw this post, and naturally I have to say WTF as I never see them.
2003 New England Hardcore and MetalFest they played but i couldn’t see them during that time slot.
So now flash forward and they play Maryland Deathfest and they played again. this is just one of those experiences i wish i was there for. But you can’t be everywhere and see everything.
So with that said here are two videos from Justin Brecese’s you tube channel,
The Egyption based Death metal band Nile are set to release their 8th album titled; What Should Not Be Unearthed on August 28th via Nuclear Blast Records. The album is produced by Nile and mixed by Neil Kernon
They have Michal Loranc to thank for the artwork which is pretty badass you can see that right here;
Karl Sanders had this to say “These songs will be a blast to play live, and we are stoked at the opportunity to bring these songs to metal fans everywhere. See you on tour!”
SO for any Nile fans out there August 28th will be a great day, as we see an album that the band is saying will be as brutal as “ Annihilation of the Wicked” with that said I can’t wait to hear it when it comes out.
So to get you pumped up for a new album lets check out some videos from their past albums with the Greek drumming demigod George Kollias playing percussion;
