Hail Mary! Iwrestledabearonce new album today!!!!! @iwabo

Anyone who has ever listening to iwrestledabearonce knows that they do not play by any rules. They are an all out assualt on everything you ever knew to be within your comfort zone. Gift of Death is a great example of this  march to the beat of their own drum style. Green Eyes is also a great track, i mean the whole album is great don’t get me wrong. I am just really all over the place with this new album. You have to listen to it to understand, but they take your typical steady paced groove to head bang to, throw in a few psychotic episodes and fast riffs and you have Hail Mary. The clean vocals are a nice touch not overly present, but still as always a nice touch to some of the songs. Green eyes is a great example of that. So for all you iwabo fans out there, what ar eyou waiting for the new album is out.  pick it up. The album is badass, this band did a killer job on these songs.

Skinless, Into Eternity, Lamb of God news and more @revocation @lambofgod @skinlessband @orpheusmetal

Lots of interesting things happening lately. Might not be metal news but Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl fell off a stage, broke his leg and then finished up the show. You have to give anyone credit for being a badass if they play with a freshly broken leg.

now moving forward, Skinless put a track up on the facebook page for their new album Only the ruthless Remain. The title of the track is ” The Beast Smells Blood” i am currently listening to this track right now, and  it sounds great. This has Skinless brand metal written all over it. I am really digging this song. so for your enjoyment i have the Audio for it right here, but with visuals including merch and ordering information for the album.

John Coffey would fit more in the post hardcore, punk, indie sound however regardless of sound, a video surfaced of the vocalist catching a beer. This is just pretty bad ass all in itself. Shit if Stevie Wonder were to catch a beer like this i would have it on my metal blog too.

In other news Hivesmasher will be calling it a day with their last show on June 26th. They will be playing a ” the party is over” show and if you are interested check this out

hivesmasher

Revocation drummer or ex drummer?  havent heard anything official as of yet. But Phil has changed his profile on instagram, and has also left out any mention of Revocation in his bio. while it used to read that he was the drummer it now has no omention of that. We know he was unable to play the drums for some time when he broke his arm, and had Alex Rudinger fill in while the band was on tour. As well as Jon Rice filling in when he could also. So while ther has not been any official statement, it may be safe to say there is something going on, and we may hear more about it soon.

For fans of Into Eternity it looks as though they just signed to Kolony Records recently. They just finished up the recording for a 2015 album release Sirens, and they have announced that they signed with Italian record label Kolony records. The band is planning on actively touring and getting ready for the release of the new album.

Kolony records seems like they have been making some good business decisions, as they had signed Orpheus Omega back in April. Their upcoming album PARTUM VITA MORTEM’, out on July 24 sounds pretty badass so far. here is a single off the new album for you to check out

Metal Alliance tour news;

So it does not seem like Deicide kick Entombed A.D. off the tour like all the spreading rumors had stated. So based on several FB posts by Deicide it paints a different picture all together.  It seems as though the organizers are the ones to blame, and while Deicide could have just said  ” Pound Sand” and went home, they dont want to dissapoint any fans. However Deicide had these statements posted so you can decide for your self

“These are the final dates to this tour, we could have just said fuck this whole mess, and been done with it! We don’t do business like that and believe there is honor in finishing it not for ourselves but for the fans who deserve to see the band and who expect us to show up! This will be our last U.S. TOUR FOR A LONG LONG LONG TIME, come on out and support these great bands”

“What happen with this tour is this…the agents put together a package that the local promoters had no faith in and couldn’t afford and we’re all asking to cancel their dates, so to keep it going and finish it out entombed were told to go home not by us. But by the agents that set up this tour so the local promoters could still do the shows, we are all in this mess together and I can assure you we will never get involved in anything like this ever again.”

“We had nothing to do with entombed being kicked off tour blame metal alliance, there fucking mess!”

“METAL ALLIANCE IS WHO YOU SHOULD BE ANGRY WITH, THIS FUCKING TOUR IS THERE BIG FUCKING MESS, NOT DEICIDE WE ARE ONLY GUILTY OF AGREEING TO DO THE TOUR!”

So Deicide dont seem too happy about this whole mess either.

Lamb of God news! It seems like every week there is something to mention about this band.  So it has been reported that Lamb of God will have guess vocals from none other than Chin Morneo (Deftones) and Greg Puciato (Dillinger Escape Plan). That just makes this album seem that more promising, with these guys offering their vocals to some tracks. Greg will be on the track ” Torches” and Chino will be on ” Embers”.  I for one think that this album will be killer. You already have so much that has fueled the writing for this record, and then to add two frontman from great bands. This album just seems to be getting better and better as the release date gets closer.

Full Terror Assault open air festival will take place 9/10/15-9/12/15 at Cave-In Rock Illinois. There are three days, and three stages with 75 bands listed.

#TBT Metal Edition Fault, @JungleRot @sevendust Bloodlet,Ebony Tears,

Welcome to this weeks edition Of the Badgers Metal Breakdown Throwback Thursday playlist. Many of us metal fans got into metal by hearing a song or seeing an album at a local record store. Some of us had that one friend who introduced us to bands, or you simply heard something playing and it sounded so good you had to hear it again. For some of us those songs mean something to you some way some how. Maybe it’s a song or an album you haven’t listen to in years, but as soon as you listen to the song it brings you right back to a specific time in your metal fan history. This is my playlist with videos, or at least audio clips of songs from bands that bring me back. Some of the songs are from local bands that I would go to shows, and others are from some of the first metal cd’s I bought. With that said lets jump into the pit of memory lane.

First up is a song by Sepultura, I bought the album when I was in the 6th grade. This was one of the first metal cd’s I bought. Shortly after I jumped head first into metal and have never looked back since. By this time I had already been playing the drums since 1993 and this album was the first metal album I would learn the drums to. The 1996 gateway metal album for many is none other than Roots. This album is well known for the song “ Roots Bloody Roots” which to many is that signature song everyone knows. I will be honest this is the first metal song I learned on the drums. Igor had a simple but heavy sound to make the song a classic. I remember sitting at my drum set and just playing this song over and over and over. Then playing the drums to Attitude this song was just so badass to play at the time. The rest of the album had some killer tracks like Cutthroat, Ratamahatta, and Born Stubborn to name a few. So here is a video for Attitude

Now Fault is a band that got started around my hometown of Atkinson, NH.

unnamed

These guys were that band that because they were local you tried to go to any and every show you could. They had a killer sound, Tim was merciless on the drums, the samples at the beginning of the songs were perfect. This was one of those homegrown bands that just killed it. Now trying to find videos for their songs is next to impossible. I’m just glad I have always kept every CD I have ever owned, and also their album “ Sensory Deprivation” is also on Spotify, so if you have/Subscribe to Spotify take a listen to their whole album. I really would have liked to find something for the song Children of the Corn, or Purgatory. But the only video I found is for just the audio for the song Cyanide. Which is still a badass song that can hold its own. I just feel as though Purgatory shows off the talent of Tim on drums more, and of course being a drummer I do lean more towards the drums. At any rate here is Cyanide of the 1998 album Sensory Deprivation. Enjoy and if you like this, some of the members ended up starting a band called the_network. A great album worth listening to is Bishop Kent Manning.

Now for a band that blew me away when I picked up a victory records sampler while I was much younger. Back before EMO was thought of, we had hardcore, metal, and the crossover bands that fit both. Like Bloodlet, and Integrity did and both were on that victory records sampler. The song on the sampler was that introduction to Bloodlet and I ended up going to a Newbury Comics and picking up the album Entheogen. The album came out in 1996 and I instantly got hooked on the 9th track “ (95”. This was and still is one of the songs I love playing the drums to. The vocals are different than most other bands, the bass has a heavy presence at times. Drums are great, and fun to play along to. This will always be one of my favorite songs to listen to. It just has a groove to it that I can’t sit still when I listen to the song. So enough chat because I just need to get the video/Audio clip up so you can listen for yourself. For some of you, you may have been a fan, if not I can tell you this particular song takes me back big time. This song thoroughly makes my day when I listen.

Now to bring it back a few more years is the album that I discovered my absolute favorite live song. Yes it is a live album, and although I really do not care for live albums, this one solidified its impact on me with the song “Fear of the Dark” For some of you I do not need to name names. You know what band I am talking about, and you may even know the album it came from but if not then let me educate you. The year was 1998, Iron Maiden put out A Real Live Dead One. Live songs while they were touring in 1992 and 1993. Now Iron Maiden will and forever be one of my favorite bands ever. They may not be death metal, grind, metalcore blackmetal what have you. They are simply put. METAL! \M/ Now this particular song was recorded live in Finland in 1992. This song to me is so powerful, when you listen to it, you can almost imagine you were there. when the song starts and Bruce starts singing, the crowd is too, and you can hear them perfectly. It demonstrates the dedication the fans have for something they believe in, and love. They sing the melody, and even when Bruce says “ You” at the 1:39 mark in the beginning you know everyone in that crowd sang “ Fear of the Dark”. This song is a great display of musicianship, and just how favored Iron Maiden is.

So while I could write pages worth of information about the band or album or even the song I will leave it up to the video to explain.

My next video is for a song off of Sevendust’s debut album. The whole album was great, but the song “ Black” is probably the song that got everyone’s attention. Iremember hearing it on a local radio station that would play heavy stuff in the evenings. Needless to say I also picked this album up from a Newbury Comics, as that was the record store that had metal and hardcore bands and everything in between. It is still my favorite store to go to due to their selection. They were so ahead of their time that I don’t think an official was ever made. Nowadays youtube has everything you could ever want from a kid putting a glow stick in the microwave, a goat screaming, and an autotune version of Antoine Dodson on the news. But there is no official video for Black. So while this weeks TBT playlist does not have a lot of “ official” videos. There are some great tunes, worth listening to. Here is a clip for Black.

Napalm Death is my next selection, now to be fair, I had heard them many times. They actually to me had a grind sound to them, that wasn’t widely used among metal bands. While everyone else was doing the “Death” metal style these guys were doing their own thing. These guys have been around for a long time and are still doing it. They recently put out “Apex Predator” so they haven’t slowed down one bit. We can talk about Greed killing, More than meets the eye and many other songs. But the video I have for is from 1997 The album was Inside the Torn Apart and the track is ‘ Breed to Breathe” I heard this song off an Earache Records sampler “ Earplugged 2” I picked this album up that year at a Strawberries one town over. And would listen to this album and from there I discovered more Earache Records bands. Napalm Death just had a different sound then the other bands. It wasn’t totally different, but it was like adding a different spice to a sound that made them unique. They still aim to deliver metal, and I don’t see them slowing down either. Here is the video for Breed to Breathe;

Up next is a great album from the band Today is the Day.

Today_Is_the_Day_-_In_the_Eyes_of_God

So for all those Mastodon fans out there stick around because Brann Dailor, and Bill Kelliher actually played in Today is the Day before Mastodon was even formed. You had those two guys teamed up with Steve Austin ( who also did vocals on “Terror and Hubris in the House of Frank Pollard”, production, mixing, engineering, analog editing, digital editing, and mastering of the album New American Gospel” by Lamb of God in 2000) and made In The Eyes Of God a rollercoaster of an album. They are listed on Wikipedia as noisecore now this is where I get hung up on sub-genre’s. Look if its metal, call it metal, I understand black metal, death metal, grind etc. But once you start calling something post hardcore bible thumping sludge pop noisecore. Im going to just say “ its metal” . So without any great quality video of this song, I have audio for the song “ Going to Hell”

hqdefault

My Own Victim may not ring a bell to some of you but I heard these guys off a century media sampler compilation. I ended up buying their 1997 album “ No Voice, No Rights, No Freedom” while they may be more hardcore than metal, they fit in to the category because hardcore was a sound between punk and metal. I could go on about the similarities the history but who gives a damn. I am just playing a song that brings me back to my younger days. That good old rebellious hardcore sound. These guys are a Kentucky band who got started in 1995 with all the great influences of hardcore, and what they did was put out a great hardcore sound for that album. I really enjoyed this album. Nothing too fancy over the top or trying to make everyone else happy. So instead of just a video or audio clip. Since I can’t find the song I am looking for, then what I have is the audio for the entire No Voice album. So either skim through. Listen to the whole thing or do what you want, but just know this album has some killer hardcore tracks on it.

I remember scouring the internet back in the days of aol, and windows 95 trying to find metal any way I could. You would come across bands that never get big, and then bands that changed lineups or names. For example there used to be a website mp3.com it may still be active but I guarantee its not the way it used to be, and I actually downloaded Burn The Priest’s first album. Who knew they would Later become Lamb of God. So while I would use that site I discovered so many bands. And one of those bands was Ebony Tears. They had a similar black metal sound like At The Gates that piqued my metal interest. I came across the song Harvester of Pain, and I just really liked the way it was written. Very simple, yet has fast attacks, but mostly besides the drums which I am normally locked onto, but the guitars. I really like the guitar sound on this song. They have a fuzzy distortion similar to a buzz saw which some bands can pull of. This guitar sound is why I like Trap Them’s guitars because they have that guitar distortion sound. The band is now split up and the members went on to form Dog Faced Gods which sounds nothing like Ebony Tears. Sometimes the direction is totally different. At any rate I could only find a lyric video so here is the lyric video for Harvester of Pain, enjoy;

Ebony Tears - Tortura Insomniae

My last video, is for an entire album worth of audio, I can’t find this album anywhere, and I loved it. I was in highschool, and heard the Slaughter of the Weak album my freshman year, I saw them play a show freshman year, and when their next album came out I knew I was goin to go out and buy it. So sure enough the album Dead and Buried came out in 2001 and I picked it up at none other than my favorite Newbury Comics. And I played the shit out of this album. So why am I doing audio for the whole album? Because I can’t find audio or video of the one song I really wanted to do which is Circle of Death/ Jungle Rot. So if you want to go straight to that song just skip to the 31:57 minute mark. But I do recommend just playing the whole album because the intro to the album is a great sample. These guys play a style of metal that is not the popular lets do everything faster and do pig squeal vocals and blast beats, and everything that everybody else is doing. These guys have that slow groove style death metal similar to Sodom, Monstrosity and Grave. They did however just put out a track for their new album which sounds pretty good. They have always stuck to their signature sound which is what I like. They have never changed for anything. Just still pumping away heavy badass metal. check out their new track “Fight where you stand” from Decibel Magazine.

http://decibelmagazine.com/blog/2015/6/10/man-up-and-fight-where-you-stand-with-jungle-rot   So with all that said here is the entire Dead And Buried album for you to listen to;

ENJOY

That wraps up this weeks Throwback Thursday metal edition, This wont be a weekly thing but every few weeks or so its fun to listen to metal that takes you to a different time.

Metal news catch up. Parkway drive, Lamb of God, Warpath Island, #mhmconf2015 @jasonindex @lambofgod @shadosfallband @heartofacoward @archspireband @highonfireband @parkwayofficial @slipknot

Sorry for any delay to any metal news there is, i happened to take a vacation this past week that included seeing Cryptopsy wrap up their ” Back to the U.S. tour in Syracuse, Ny, and then making my way down to Florida to relax by the beach or pool and read Extremity Retained written by Misery Index’s own Jason Netherton. Needless to say i did not have my computer or wifi so any posts i could do were few and far between and on my phone with only a 1G and maybe if I was lucky 3G/4G service. At any rate  lots to report and i still wont be able to fit it all in to one post without everyones ADD  needing to look at something different, so i am going to break this up into a few posts just to keep you guys engaged.

Parkway drive just released a video yesterday for the song ” Vice Grip” if you are a Parkway fan then be sure to check this out, if not hey maybe you will like them or move along to the next story i have.

Heart of a coward, new video released today on Century Medieas youtube channel,  they are a bit more mainstream sounding but anyone who listens i bvet you could hear them on either Sirius XM Liquid Metal or Octane easily. Not bad definitely check them out.

Slipknot released the video to the song  Killpop yesterday and has already broken a million views, 1,381,960 to be exact right now as i am typing this which is a big feat considering it was released yesterday.

Stream High on Fire’s new album “ Luminiferous” because why nowadays bands are putting it out there to stream the whole album. I say YES because if i like it i am still going to buy it. Call me old but i like to have the CD. I like being able to physically hold it in my hands and read the booklet. See where it was recorded who produced it, all the way to the thank you’s. Shit i used to find a way to the record store, pick up a cd, and the first thing i did was read the booklet. See who the band thanked, who they toured with etc. you get a good idea of the smaller less known bands that way and i would end up checking them out to see what they sounded like, go to shows or buy their albums if i could. So with High on Fire putting the album to stream you can get a good listen to all the tracks and make up your mind and buy it when you can. i have listened to all the tracks and it is good, I really dig The Black Plot! so go on and check it out

Sickdrummer Magazine posts a video of Archspires Spencer Pruwett killing it on the drums to “ Rapid Elemental Dissolve”Now I have heard a few different opinions on the band from the vocals to the sound. Everyone has an opinion, Mine is that Spencer is a great drummer and I really dig watching his playthrough videos on youtube. He has one for Lucid Collective Somnabulation that is just great to watch becuase it covers several different camera angles. So here is the video from Sickdrummer Magazine

Cryptopsy crowdfunding only has 29 days left, and $6,366.00 raised so far click on the link to help them reach their goal!

I know I have posted a lot about Cryptopsy, but you have to understand, when they formed years back most of the metal was just the typical death metal. These guys are from Canada and just created a sound like no one else, and still no one can pull off the same sound. I have always been a huge fan of Flo Mounier as a drummer, the guy is just incredible. and also i had the chance to meet and talk to the band at their last show in Syracuse, NY. The guys are some of the most down to earth people, and are all a bunch of great guys who have lives like you and me. Each had great stuff to talk about with the new album, and also had great ideas for the future music from Cryptopsy. So check out their crowdfunding Indie gogo page, maybe you have never heard their music before, listen to some songs and heck if you dont want to buy a cd buy the digital download, its only $5.00!  You can even have exclusives like Matt doing vocals for your band or flow doing drum tracks etc.

https://www.indiegogo.com/project/help-fund-cryptopsy-s-the-book-of-suffering/embedded

Warpath Ireland reveal guest vocals for a track have been recorded with the one and only Mark Kloeppel from Misery Index for the upcoming E.P. ” The Ambiance of War”.  The track Mark did vocals on is listed as ” Hunted like the prey that you are”. Which sounds like it will be a killer track. if you want to get some more information on this news check out Warpath’s facebooks page at; https://www.facebook.com/warpath.ireland

1000x1000

Other misery Index news the legendary Jason Netherton Bassist and founding member of both Misery Index, and Dying fetus as well as author of Extremity Retained will be presenting at the Modern Heavy Metal Conference in Helsinki Finland. Also if you are a fan of metal, and like me grew up listening to it, do yourself a favor, pick up Jason’s book Extremity Retained. It is a must have for every fan of metal.

And of course as I posted yesterday Lamb of God has the audio for the track titled “512” up to listen to. Its not a fast tempo song, its a good mid tempo song that has some powerful background fueling the lyrics. Randy had spoke to Rollingstone magazine and said that his cell number while in prison over seas was 512. So if you have not listened to it yet, get on that. New Lamb of God what are you waiting for?

And right now the Video for Killpop has 1,382,160 views and picking up steam.

So thats just part of my news cathc up stay tuned for more. and make sure to support local music, and actually buy the music. Bands need to earn a living too.

Cryptopsy, becoming independant, new music. Great musicians, great guys! Lets get them to their goal!

cryptopsyNS_no_crownHIRES

I want you to think about this for a second,

You grow up knowing that you will work a certain profession some day.  You need to pick a career and try to work your hardest at it to succeed. Now lets say you land a good job. You go to work, put in your time, earn a paycheck. You look at that pay check and you have all of your standard deductions and tax deductions etc. now lets say your employer also takes a portion of your paycheck.  Many of you are probably wondering well why would they do that? Some of you are probably saying “ hell no I don’t like the sound of that”. Some of you are probably wondering where I am going with this so I will explain.

For bands they have a few paths to take, they start out fresh and they do the typical journey of playing shows at dive bars basically anywhere that will allow an original artist to play. Now coming from experience you don’t really make squat when you are doing this, if you get paid, its peanuts. Your goal is to get on a label, because a label is where life gets a little easier. You don’t have to do your own promotions, you aren’t the ones making the calls, booking the shows, the label handles that for you. However if your livelihood is based on this type of career you are missing out on a lot. You are on the road constantly, you are trying to navigate the digital age we live in today, and at some point you want to actually earn enough to make a living doing this. Now what if you had started out made a big name for yourselves, got onto huge labels, but you were not really pulling in enough? Meaning you grossed a lot over a year, but the net you actually saw was a very small fraction of your gross earnings? What do you do then? There is one option, and that is go independent, but you have to work hard, and I mean work real hard for it. you are taking all the calls, trying to manage everything yourselves.

Cryptopsy did just that, they created a big name for themselves, and a fan base to go with it. This path is like starting your own company/ business. Anybody who has ever tried to start their own business knows it is not easy. You are your own boss and you don’t have a staff working the financials, the phone calls, the business planning, merchandise, product, etc. You are doing all the work to go the distance needed for success. Cryptopsy is doing that, they are handling all the business they can.

Imagine going independent, and then going on a tour. Work doesn’t stop because you are on tour, work is non stop. The world doesn’t go to sleep at the same time and wake up at the same time. 24-7 there is business to be handled, and Cryptopsy are doing that. They just finished up a tour that started in Worcester, Massachusetts, and ended in Syracuse, NY. They played shows all across the U.S. trying to stir up some support for their upcoming E.P. If you were fortunate to see them then chances are you not only were blown away by a great performance, you may have also heard a track from the upcoming E.P. title “ The Book of Suffering Tome 1” .   I saw them in Syracuse and I have to tell you the new material sounds amazing. They played songs from all their albums, and of course the first song I ever heard from them “ Emaciate” now that song blew me away the first time I heard it. From that moment I was a Cryptopsy fan for life. I got a chance to talk to Flo this past Monday and had mentioned that songs impact on me. To my surprise he told me they would be playing it that night. I can’t even begin to tell you how badass that is. That song came off their ” Whisper Supremcy” album from 1998, and to see them play it live is still having that “ WOW” effect on me. Then he tells me they will also be playing a new fresh song that will be on the Book of Suffering E.P. and then to hear that new song live was incredible, actually incredible is a monumental understatement. It was an experience like no other.

Now why should you be concerned whether they are independent or not? Because if you found out that in order for one of the best metal acts to put out new music is by getting a head count for who will actually by the album and pre ordering it. wouldn’t you want to help them out? Its like seeing signs for shop local, or help small business. Who wants to hear new music from a super talented group aiming to just crush every boundary and set the bar at astronomical levels? Who wants to help out a really stand up great group of guys living a life like you and I ? They are working hard for it, possessing integrity, principal, and devotion they took on a challenge that is a harder road. They aren’t just doing it for themselves, they are doing it for the fans. To get new music out more often, to give the fans their absolute best effort every time.

Now if none of this is getting you to check out their indiegogo page, then let me give my personal perspective. I have talked to these guys, they are all really cool collected guys. Every member had great things to say, and were very professional. They were nice, I mean you could talk to these guys like a friend. They have great ideas ahead, and to get their they just need a little help along the way. From hearing them for the first time, Flo Mounier became a drummer I have admired for over a decade. Talking to Chris (guitars) he has great ideas for the future of Cryptopsy and the guy is a really cool guy to speak with, shoot my girlfriend came to the show with me. The first thing she said when we lef tthe show was ” They were so nice, and Chris was so sincere, he looked scary angry like on stage but  he was so nice, they were so cool. Matt (vocals) was  constantly thanking the fans for coming out, when I spoke to him he was just very precise on what they wanted to accomplish. Make great music, give the fans the best they can. Oliver (Bass) is a cool guy, also thanking people for their support. And I gotta say, you see him on stage and he just has this menacing look like he is about to fuck shit up in a hard way. Then to talk to him after he is one of the nicest guys you will meet. Seriously these guys are a couple of normal guys trying to live the dream by working hard and delivering only the best they can to their fans. Buy their merchandise, Pre order the new album or pre order a campaign shirt. Hell they have options from digital download to having them do mixing for a song for your band. They are their own business, they are their own boss, they are their own marketers, they are their own sales, and all they want is for their product ( great technical grinding metal from Canada) to be the absolute best and put on great performances.

With that said check out a few videos to try and get you to understand what you could be a part of just by pre ordering something, and everything comes with a digital download of the album. So it’s a win, win, win situation. You win by pre ordering something, you win by being a part of something, Cryptopsy wins by getting what they need to give us their best, and being able to continue to do so.

Here’s a little clip to get you amped for the new E.P.

So if that’s not enough

Here’s Flo, and why he’s one of my absolute favorite drummers:

Here’s Oliver, and Chris doing a play through for “ Two Pound Torch”

And because its not easy to find any videos of just Matt here are a few videos of live performance with Matt killing it:

SO COME ON! LETS HELP CRYPTOPSY MEET THEIR GOAL!!! Seriously right now their Facebook page has 277,000 page likes. And on their indiegogo page they have only 207 backers and $5,491 raised, with only 34 days left. That means they only have a quarter raised so far, out of 277 thousand page likes only a quarter raised. So come on anything will make a difference, maybe you know someone who would love a new Cryptopsy shirt, or the experience of a lifetime of guitar lesson via skype with Chris. The bare minimum donation is $5.00 for a digital download of the E.P. and since many people only use Mp3’s for their sound medium heck why not, $5.00 could help these guys out. It won’t buy you a pack of cigarettes but it will buy you extremely talented technical metal in the form of a digital download. So check their Indiegogo page out.

Also they have lots of great stuff on their facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/CryptopsyMetal

#TBT Metal Edition @archenemymetal @vehemenceaz @coalesceox @AtthegatesGBG @Lambofgod @neurosisoakland @InternalBLDNG @officialopeth @MounierFlo

So I figured why the hell not? If you listen to metal than surely you have those albums that you will go back and listen to and really bring you back. I know I do, and hearing about Vehemence putting out a new album, Neurosis doing a tour, and Agoraphobic Nosebleed playing at Maryland Deathfest. It really put me in the mood to listen to some good stuff I remember buying when it came out, and going to shows.

SO to start things off will be a video by Vehemence. This is called by your bedside off of the “ Helping the World to See” album;

Soundcloud for some more Vehemence songs; https://soundcloud.com/vehemenceofficial

31914

Next will be a video by Coalesce, from the album “ 0:12 revolution in just listening” I couldn’t find any actual video footage of this song, but it’s a good listen.

Here’s a soundcloud link for a few other Coalesce songs; https://soundcloud.com/relapserecords/sets/coalesce

Now bringing it back to 1995 we have At the gates, Blinded by Fear off of the “ Slaughter of the Soul album” This album was one of those monumental albums. I remember picking up an Earache records Compilation that had this song on it.

298

Now this is only going back to 2003 but “ As the Palaces Burn” came out while I was in college. And this album was one of the albums that I would listen to , while getting pumped up before my band would play a show. After my sound check I would play a song form this album or “ New American Gospel” theres something about how Chris Adler plays the drums I dig his style. At the time he didn’t do any blast beats or anything, it was just drums with great fills and solid timing.   So here is the song “ Ruin”

asthepalacesburn

And here is a live performance of O.D.H.G.A.B.F.E

Now it brings me to Neurosis, this song “ Under the Surface” is what got me into these guys. There was something dark yet powerful about this song.

Here it is off of the “ Times of Grace” album

neurosis_timesofgrace_02

Next is a band from the earlier days of metalcore, these guys were one of those bands you listen to this song “ Bitter” and you can see how far the Metalcore genre has come. Whether some of the newer bands ever listened to them or not, I would say these guys had a big influence one way or another.

Here it is Bitter off the “ Fifty ninth session” album

R-2986641-1310502674.jpeg

Now bringing metal back to the year 1999 where Internal Bleeding put out “ Driven to Conquer” So its not an official video, but it still allows you to take in the song “ Falling Down” with pretty good audio, and getting to see the album cover.

3653

Lets go back to 1998 with Arch Enemy’s “ Stigmata” Album, the opening track “ Beast Of Man” when I first heard this song I just loved the guitars in this song. I was in the 8th hgrade and rocking out to this song off a Century Media Records compilation CD I bought at a Newbury comics. This compilation was the first of many that really got me into new bands. I think I paid $3.00 for 20 songs and this song was on there. I wish this video was an official video, however there is an “ Official” video from a few years ago. Obviously its with Angela Gossow on vocals, and from a different album. To me this may be an “ Official” video, but its not original.

220px-StigmataAlbum

At any rate here is the original song off of “ Stigmata”

And then off of “ Root of all evil” with Angela;

Another Band i got into early on was Opeth, i first heard them back in middle school and bought their album titled “Morningrise”  i really got into their epic metal sound, just heavy haunting menacing vocals at times and soft sincere vocals at others. this is an art form. i have never heard another band that has the bipolar, yet progressive metal song structure as Opeth.

Here is the track ” Advent” of the Morningrise album;

071c004f9a6ce0646e4390f32f89b06f_1307433778

Now last but not least I bring you Cryptopsy with the album “ Whisper Supremecy” the track titled “ Emaciate” which happens to be the first song I ever heard, and was absolutely blown away by Flo’s drumming skills. Still listening to this song I am in awe of the talent Flo has. Now this is with a different vocalist at the time. I will not take away from current vocalist Matt’s talent. I personally really dig his vocals the best, I think all the other guys were great and added to the albums respectively. Since Matt McGachy has taken over vocal duties I think he really adds the missing element for vocals. He has great sound, great range, and can pull off the older songs great.

SO with that said here is “ Emaciate”

And don’t forget to check out Cryptopsy’s indiegogo page as they are trying to put out a new E.P. they are crowdfunding currently. Here is that link ;

So that wraps up this weeks  #TBT Throwback Thursday metal edition. Feel free to comment, offer some details about a metal song or album that brings you back to a time period every time you listen to it.

Agoraphobic Nosebleed live?!? @agoraphobicnb

This is insanity, Agoraphobic Nosebleed live? I wish it was a show more local to me.  but straight from Metal Injection I saw this post, and naturally I have to  say WTF as I never see them.

2003 New England Hardcore and MetalFest they played but i couldn’t see them during that time slot.

So now flash forward and they play Maryland Deathfest and they played again. this is just one of those experiences i wish i was there for. But you can’t be everywhere  and see everything.

So with that said here are two videos from Justin Brecese’s you tube channel,

enjoy;
