DESTROYERS OF ALL SIGN WITH MOSHER RECORDS, ANNOUNCE RELEASE DATE

Portuguese prog-death metallers Destroyers Of All will release their first full-length Bleak Fragments on March 18th, through the newly founded Mosher Records.

Recorded at Golden Jack Studios Coimbra, the follow up to critically acclaimed EP Into the Fire (2013) features ten songs packed with mad riffs, virtuoso lead work, intricate dynamics that will catch you off-guard and a dark vocal delivery that ties together this complex gem. On working with producer Joao Dourado, the band stated “he knows us better that anyone else, and mainly, he knows our sound and how we want to mould it, and that makes it all easier to work with.”

Regarding the album concept, vocalist Joao Mateus says “the main focus is the real world, it is what inspires us. Each song has it’s own identity, it’s own history and concept. They may not have a direct link or sequence, but they only make sense when coming together on our record.” The band reached out to indonesian artist Silencer8 (As I Lay Dying, Kylesa, Caliban, Suicide Silence) for the album cover. “It was awesome to see he was extremely interested in working with us.”, the band reveals. “So we passed on the themes our music gravites around and some pre-productions of ‘Bleak Fragments’” – the result is an impressive piece of art, as intricate as the music itself.

Destroyers Of All will promote the new album with live gigs starting in 2016, and the band has the intention to expand their touring schedule beyond the national borders. Bleak Fragments will have worldwide distribution and will also be available through the usual digital marketplaces and streaming platforms. Pre-orders will be available soon through the Mosher website.

Pronostic-An Atomic Decision Album Review 10/10

Pronostic

An Atomic Decision

Alexandre Lauzon – Guitars and High Vocals
Charles Pilotte – Guitars and Low Vocals
Mathieu “La Vie” Laurence – 6-String bass
Nicholas “Le Fou” Wells – Drums & Percussion

  1. Intro

This is a pretty badass intro track, this is something you would get from a movie’s opening credits. Very operatic, and orchestral, really  keeping things mysterious at first, you have an orchestra playing, a chorus singing, and the strings. All this builds up and really kicks the album off in the right direction

  1. An Atomic Decision

That intro track and then playing right into this song, is epic. They lock down a groove early, with some technical metal style brutality. The first thirty seconds of this song really set the bar high, the drums are surgically precise, and the guitars are shredding some tight riffs. Much like the title tracks name within the first sixty seconds you will be blown away. The guitar solo just after the two minute mark is great, these guys are bringing some deliberate talent and creativity to the table here. If this track doesn’t make you an instant fan I don’t know what will, this is track number one, out of ten and they are preparing to decimate the masses with their killer sound.

  1. Useless Wait

Yet another kick ass introduction coming from the guitars and drums, it has some old school flavor in the opening rhythm, and then it’s blasting drums and whirlwind guitars together really setting up a concrete groove. This song is very extraordinary, and I am now looking forward to seeing these guys on the road at some point. They hit us with a cool guitar solo halfway through the song, and bring it down melodically for a moment. Setting the drums up to showcase his talents of not just a drummer shackled to double bass and blast beats, the guy clearly knows a thing or two about skilled percussion delivery.

  1. Pay To See The Day

This song does not hold back any level of intensity, they come in fast and hard with this song. The song is a perfect example of a reason to headbang, I am pretty sure if you were involved in a conversation, and this song came on. You would stop what you were doing and head bang. The rhythm is solid, and the groove is contagious, the melodic guitar riffs add another element to this brilliant contribution to the album. Right at the 1:50 minute mark, they set things up for a solo, and the driving force increases. The 3:03 minute mark we get some volume swells from the guitars similar to older Opeth, executed  nothing less than perfect.  This is a solid song, you will want to hit the repeat button on this one for certain.

  1. Tormented Soul

This song has a solid setup in the beginning with a great high energy tempo right around the 150 BPM area, with plenty of blasts and driving guitar riffs to give it that rapid metal assault feel that you will be experiencing. This is a great track, I am loving every little transition they go through, shit I have listened to this song three times just now. These guys are killing it with their brand of metal. Elements of progressive metal, technical metal melodic metal and death metal blended together to create a stellar listening experience.

  1. Derived Conscience

I like this introduction with the simple drum beat, then a guitar riff, another simple beat followed by sick drum fill and this continues for just about twenty seconds before the song shows us its true form.   These guitarists are great, they know when to keep it simple, and they know when to deliver an impressive shred fest. They take it you to a point of slowed down aggression for a moment only to bring you right back up to the previous tempo with guitar solos and sick drums. The thirty seconds of this song will blow you away, this album is worth the buy based on just the songs I have heard so far. The next five could be a raccoon digging through metal trash cans and the album will still be worth the money hands down.

  1. Menstrumental

This is a cool melodic instrumental with heavy bass presence, and slick guitar lines. No drums for the first half but builds right up to give it some more flavor. This is an awesome instrumental as far as I am concerned.

  1. Bécik

!!!!!!!   This has a cool guitar and drum introduction and then the vocals kick in and this is probably going to be my favorite track off the album. Holy shit, the transition is seamless at the 1:02 minute mark. This song will melt faces, and cause pits to erupt with extreme results. This song, is fresh, its explosive, and it’s going to blow your speakers because you will have this song cranked as loud as it can go.

  1. What Plagues Us

The vocals on this track are great, they have that certain shadow effect to them, they are harsh, but hold back a little giving them some dimension. The guitars are killer in this song, and the transition that takes place at the 2:05 mark has some flavor to them. This song will having you feverishly waiting for the last second to clock out so you can hit the back button and hear the whole song again.

  1. Reality

I like the groove that they lock in right as the song begins, and those guitar squeals at the end of a riff. This song like every previous track is setting the bar high at the beginning and like a machine it is just powering through the process, and just plowing through anything and everything that will oppose it. The guitars have several sections of some old school riffs that you could hear coming from progressive and power metal bands. They just set up a driving rhythm and continue to maintain a groove that you will be locked into and lose your mind to the infectious sounds coming from the band.

  1. Passing Towards The Afterlife

All I am going to do is leave this blank, because you know, that based on what I have said of all the other tracks, that Pronostic is not going to fail to deliver a great melodic, technical metal song. The track is up to you as a listener to decide, you already know that ten tracks are amazing and worth the buy. I actually recommend to buy the album, because this may be the first you hear of this band, but won’t be the last.

This album was so impressive, I was blown away. There wasn’t a single minute aspect of any song I did not like. This album gets a 10/10 from me, because the sound quality is great. The changes are seamless and at times mind blowing, the band members all have some great talent, and showcase their talents well at the right times with their respective instruments. I am an instant fan, and will be looking forward to more of what Pronostic has to offer. For fans of Necrophagist, Neuraxis, Allegeon, Beyond The Creation, Obscura, and At the Gates just to name a few.

Sevenday Curse Lineup announcement plus my interview with Scott and Steph \m/

I had the chance to catch up with Scott from Sevenday Curse, as well as their newest member Steph Robinson who brings a wealth of experience, and drive to the band with her keyboard talents.

So I am here with Scott from Sevenday curse.

Badger- The last time I saw you guys it was September 3rd in providence Rhode island at Dusk, where you guys opened up for Revocation. So what have you guys been doing since then, a lot of writing perhaps?

Well most of the new stuff has already been written. We have been doing a lot of refining. working on getting new songs recorded and kind of just working on the extra stuff that gets added on to the songs like lyrics, keyboards guitars. for the most part the song structures have been written and done for at least a month now.

Badger- From the last time I talked to you guys you were working on an EP, how is that been coming along?

So we’re still kind of unsure how we’re going to release this. at first we were talking about an EP, and then we kinda of naturally writing more songs, we got to the point where we felt we had enough for a full length you know. So that’s still up in the air  but we are leaning towards it being a full length. its very likely that its going to be entirely self produced, because that gives us the most freedom to do it the way we want. Also because we have also been doing writing as we record them so nowadays with being able to own your own Pro tools rig it makes life a lot easier and gives you flexibility to do that.

Badger- So I had seen on Facebook a few weeks back that you guys were looking to include one of the songs from After the Storm on the new release.  Have you guys come to a conclusion on which song will be with the new stuff?

We did,

Badger- Ahh and which one will you be doing?

That’s going to be a surprise, were going to play that one close to the chest. Its going to be fun, we feel like we picked the song that is a fan favorite, but also represents the sound of our newer stuff. that kind of direction we are going in now.

Badger-  The last time we talked you were looking for a keyboardist, have you been able to lock down another member to the band.

So yeah that’s the big announcement, we after a long search we feel as though we have found the right person. her name is Steph Robinson, she has played in a lot of bands. she is a really experienced musician.who comes with amazing credentials, she is extremely talented and she can also sing. We are really excited to bring her into the fold, and start playing with her live soon as well. Its a perfect time to bring her in, because there is still plenty of room to have her bring in her own ideas, and influence to how these new songs are going to sound. We haven’t gotten to the stage where we have been able to figure out all the keyboards yet,  but its a perfect time,  because we can hand her what we have so far and let her take the reigns on the orchestration and piano.

Badger- So I see you guys are starting to book a few more shows, are there any big shows you are excited about coming up?

Hothfest would be the biggest/ best one, its in January, on the 9th.  its also very likely going to be the first show we play with live with Steph.

I also heard that they just moved to a larger venue because of all the bands that are on the bill. they ended up moving it to Maximum Capacity in Chicopee, Mass.

After talking with Scott I got the chance to talk to Steph about her joining Sevenday Curse.

3090

Badger- I understand you have (to the best of my knowledge) toured with two bands across North America. tell me a little about your background and how you got into playing the keyboard for metal?

Until two years ago when I switched over to tattooing full-time (I co-own a tattoo shop now in Webster, MA), I was a self-employed, full-time working musician.  I’m classically trained, hold a Ph.D. in music composition, and have played keyboards since I was a child.  I’m also a vocalist, and have an operatic background.  I’ve done pretty much any type of musical gig you can imagine – that’s what a working musician has to do to keep food on the table!  In addition, I have a background with music production, and spent a number of years working as a recording engineer; I still do quite a bit of freelance work in this respect. I’ve been a metalhead my entire life – I grew up obsessed with Dio, Judas Priest, Ozzy, Sabbath and all the classics.  However, I never really thought about PLAYING metal until about 9 or 10 years ago, when I was in my late 20s and had gotten a “good job” as a community college professor.  I was unhappy with my job and bored with classical music culture in general, and it was like a switch just flipped and I said to myself, “This is not my life.  Let’s finally do this.”  Many of my classical music friends thought I was having an early midlife crisis when I suddenly decided I was done playing church organ and switched over to playing in a few metal “tribute bands.”  (Tribute bands are huge in Southern California, where I was living at the time.)  I decidedly had the working musician mentality at first – a gig had to pay reasonably well for me to be able to consider it, and hence why I ended up in a Dio tribute, along with other acts.  Through those gigs, I started meeting people more involved with the underground SoCal metal scene, made some connections, and shortly one thing led to another with me starting to work with original bands.

One band I’ve toured with is Helsott, a pagan metal band from Southern California.  I met them when they opened for one of the tribute bands I was fronting, back in San Diego.  When I moved to Massachusetts in 2011, they asked me to produce some orchestral arrangements and sing operatic style vocals for their first EP.  I ended up doing the arrangements for that, the first full-length, and did the Paganfest America tour with them in 2013 playing keys and singing live as part of the band.  While today I really can’t tour as much as they need to, I still do session work for them and remain heavily involved with the band

Badger-How did you and Sevenday Curse come together?

Scott and I connected through a mutual friend, Chris Farmerie – he books the Metal Thursday series at Ralph’s in Worcester.  Chris is a very close friend, and we recently played together in an Enslaved tribute for the Halloween Covers Weekend at Ralph’s.  We were spending a lot of time together commuting to Boston for rehearsals, and one day he said that he had a friend who was looking for a keyboard player for a band.  I said I was interested, since I haven’t played much with any New England bands and I was looking to jump back in after a bit of a layoff (I had to take a break from metal due to two other projects the past two years – one was the production in Europe of a musical that I wrote, and the other was an attempted transcontinental run for charity).

I did a Skype session with Scott last summer and we hit it off; I met the other guys a couple of months ago and we all felt like it was a good connection.  So, now, I’m learning the live set and working hard on recording material for the new album.  It’s been a blast so far.

Badger-Were you familiar with Sevenday Curse before joining the band? Maybe heard them before or saw them?

No, honestly, I hadn’t known their music beforehand.  I hate admitting that publicly!  The reasons?  One, I lived in Southern California for fifteen years, and only moved here in 2011 – the scene out west is very different than it is here in New England, so I’m definitely more familiar with Los Angeles and San Diego bands.  Two, during the time when After the Storm was released, I was working on my Ph.D., and I wasn’t doing much other than working four jobs while trying to go to school full-time, so I wasn’t hitting shows or anything…that was a really crazy time, so I’ve got a few years of a hole in my metal knowledge that coincides with when the band was active back then.  I’m glad I know their music now!

Badger- Do you have a plan on when we will be able to see you perform live with Sevenday Curse for the first time?

I believe the plan is to have my first show with them at Hothfest in January.  I’m looking forward to it!

Badger- How does it feel to be a part of a band that for many believe (including myself)  were one of the band’s who created a unique sound/ sub genre of metal?

It’s an honor – I feel extremely fortunate to be involved.  So far, the guys have welcomed me both as a band member and collaborator, and that has been very much appreciated!  It feels great to be in a creative space with production on the new album…I think it’s going to be epic.

So there you have it, Sevenday is not only working on a full length now, but they have a killer classically trained keyboardist  to add some more dimension to their music.  Badgers Metal Breakdown  is really hoping they do Revelations as that is our favorite track from After The Storm.

I am  very pumped to see them play live with Steph in January at Hothfest-2016

Parius- Saturnine album review 9/10

Parius

Saturnine

Louis Thierry – Vocals

Ryan Rauch – Guitar

George Fenton – Guitar

Ian Staab – Drums

  1.  Doctor Device

I like how this song begins, you know that its going to have a great tempo, and will build up well. The lead guitar riff is great, being layered with a driving rhythm guitar riff. This is one of those songs that when you listen to it while driving, you start to accelerate without knowing it. The guitar riff at the 1:48 mark is great, and then to make things that much better the vocals fade in. This song sounds like the band is fusing some elements from the late 90’s with today’s metal. It sounds bad ass, I am really enjoying this song.

2. Galactic Termination

The song hits you with the guitars right out of the gate, and doesn’t let up. This song is catchy, I am rocking out to this one right now, based on what these guys are delivering I anticipate the album being better and better with each song. The guitar solo around the 1:50 mark is solid, and straight to the point. I like that about it, they kept the guitar solo simple yet effective. Clocking in at just under two minutes, the song maintains a groove, and is entertaining from start to finish.

3. Grave Of The Firegod

I like how this song begins, in your face vocals, heavy with a hard and fast attack. This has a great tempo, upbeat and will encourage you to headbang the whole time. Right around the 1:07 minute mark we get a cool rhythm. This may be my favorite track, there is something about it, the guitars really give us a groove that works, and then the drums compliment it by playing out on the toms. They hit us with a whipping guitar solo, gotta love when bands have a guitarist or two that can shred.

4. Mannequin Soldier

This song starts out with a chugging style rhythm with double bass rolling throughout. I will go on record to say I made it through halfway and liked what I heard so I hit the back button just to hear it again. I’m not sure if it is one guitarist doing the solo’s or if they trade off for songs, but they keep raising the bar. I dig the vocal range that Louis posses, some gravelly lows but can hit the highs as good as anyone else. The guitar solo I speak of is just a downright dizzying solo that trades off but seems to have old school shredders influence behind them.

5. Archaic Diabolical

This song has a solid intro that builds up and hits you with what sounds like a 3:4 time signature and a 165-170 BPM tempo. This has excellent guitar work coming from both guitarists, they really jive together and seem to work well. The drums are on point, and throw some blasts in there alongside the guitar solo. Now I feel differently about my decision on what my favorite song is. This song is incredibly catchy, it has a groove and you really lock into it. This would be a great song to see live.

6. Saturnine

They waste no time going from the last song to this song, they get right down to it, and hits you with a fast pace tempo. I am enjoying everything about this song, you can head bang to this song, its got a groove, and Ian seems to be upping his game on the drums. He seems to be adding more and more to each song as they play, this song is a very energetic song, and utilizes rapid blasting and double bass. Louis delivers the vocals like an automatic firearm, switching from the highs to the lows with only a fraction of a second in between. This is a bad ass tune, only about two and a half minutes long, but boy is it a ruthless assault.

7. Confined

This is a great track that starts things off with a great driving rhythm and a short disgorging growl, the first verse is great, the rhythm behind the vocals in on point.  The song transitions nicely into the chorus section that is catchy as hell, the song does another round of verse and chorus, this second chorus lasts longer than the first. The second chorus plays out normal speed once and then repeats but at a slower pace and brutal as it will get you moving.  Right around the 1:44 mark we get a nice guitar solo that lasts about forty five seconds and delivers with succession from a simple solo beginning to some fast shredding to transition in the next verse. The last verse is have the bars and goes into the last chorus, then ends with the same driving rhythm from the guitars and drums.

8. Lake Laogai

There is absolutely no time wasted before some serious blasting and shredding going on with this track. This is zero to one hundred MPH is less than five seconds. It has a great feel to it, with a very catchy rhythm. When listening to this song, one has to wonder, “Where has this band been for the past five to ten years?” They bring a lot to the table with this song. High energy, shredding, a solid vocal range, and they really lock in a groove. I am loving the guitar tones at the 2:10 minute mark. This song progresses nicely and doesn’t hold back when it comes to the guitars talents.

9. Progression Through Violence

This has such a badass riff to start the song off with, the way this song starts out it basically grabs you and throws you in a blender. You find yourself headbanging and saying “ FUCK YEAH” then don’t you know they drop a sick bass line around the :40 second mark just to spice things up. This song is awesome, I take it back I now have no idea what my favorite song is, because each one is killer and has little specific areas that are solid ripping metal. The title of this song is very fitting for what it sounds like, and they give us that bass line again. This song is great, I can guarantee you will be headbanging for the entire song and throw the song on repeat halfway through it.

10. The Silence Of The Sirens

This song starts out by establishing the groove, and giving you a solid 210BPM tempo of hard hitting metal. The song is rock solid, with so much to offer, from the rhythm, to the guitar solos. The drums give us a constant beat that you can follow and the vocals are hitting us from different angles with the range. This song is much more melodic than the previous songs, however it is a great listen. This song has a contagious rhythm that you just cant shake, you will indefinitely be headbanging to this one, tapping your foot, and throwing the metal horns up \m/

11. Fresh Graves, Old Tombs

This has some old school elements to it, and locks down the groove with the very first fifteen seconds of the song. Once you have made it that far, you know exactly what you are going to get into as far as song quality. This song is like taking At the Gates, and Lamb of God putting them together and this is the result. The song is like nothing else really, I can’t describe it any better than that. You have the guitar tones, and vocal styles of At The Gates, and the rhythms, and attack of Lamb of God. This is a killer tune, for fans of blackened, melodic metal, from old school to new school Parius gets it right with his song.

12.  Dark Horizons

This song starts out very melodically with a lone guitar playing for a few bars, then the second guitar joins in playing over the rhythm of the first guitar. I love that fifty second song intro that I just listened to. This seems to be the song they really wanted to end the album with, it is their longest song, and really is what they built the whole album up for. The song sounds like it has harvested all of the other songs, every little unique aspect, and combined them to make this track that wraps up the whole album. The guitars are great from the beginning with the melodic tones, to the shredding for the solo sections. The vocals are crushing every level of the range, the highs to the lows. I feel as though the guitarists really display their talents while also paying some tribute to their influences. You can hear so much from the guitars, the tones, the style of riffs and solos. The drums are unwavering, right on point with every change, and also raising the bar with each song.

I was very impressed with this album, I found myself wondering why haven’t I seen this band touring yet. These guys have a great sound, I really enjoyed this album. You can hear elements of At The Gates, to Lamb Of God, to Metallica mixed throughout. These guys aren’t playing for one particular crowd, be it, metalcore, or melodic metal, or deathcore or any of the sub genres. They are playing for fans of metal. If you have been a fan of metal anywhere from the 90’s to present day, these guys are playing metal for you. I give this album a 9/10 because every song was great, every song was entertaining and didn’t lose my attention. They brought so much to the table with this album, and strategically picked the track list order to be able to raise the bar with each track as the album progressed.

My interview with Jim Gregory of Solium Fatalis

I recently had the chance to review Solium Fatalis’s sophomore album, and was pleasantly surprised with not only the lineup, but the songs were great. I wanted to reach out and talk to Jim Gregory guitarist and song writer for Solium Fatalis, and Neuronic Saw. I managed to get him on the phone and talk to him about Solium and find out where they are right now.

So I am on the phone with Jim Gregory from Solium Fatalis, What was your inspiration for the last album “The Undying season”?

Jim-Well mostly my military career, some of it touches on politics and stuff like that but a lot of it had to do with the things I saw while I was deployed in the desert and various places. Real life shit.

So that album got released about 9 months ago, are there still any physical copies left.

Jim-Yea actually there are about fifty out of the five hundred that we pressed. I still have more of the first album.

So you have both of them up on Bandcamp, has that been a great resource for you to be selling the albums in digital format?

Jim-So we have a full outlets, we don’t actually sell a lot on bandcamp, I don’t really even know why. I know other bands sell on bandcamp and it works out very well, but we haven’t had a lot of success. It’s being sold on our website, Amazon, iTunes, Google play, CD baby and the record label site. I mean you can go on your Xbox and get it.

So who does the writing for the albums?

Jim-I do all of it, the thing is I write all the songs by myself, and I have already written a few songs for this new album. I wrote 20 songs for the last album. And don’t get me wrong, I can go to Oli or Flo and get their input but for the most part I do all the writing.

So for the most part it sounds like the melody and rhythm are there, and you can go to Flo or Oli and get their opinion.

Jim- Yeah, I mean we know where Flo comes from but Oli was also in Neuraxis, and they were a killer band. Underrated in my opinion but a great metal band.

How did you end up getting involved with Jeff on vocals?

Jim-So I will do my best to give you the short version of the story, haha I’m not great with brevity. I could talk metal with you all night

Hahaha and we have,

Jim-Yea I could totally bullshit with you and talk metal for hours, you’re a cool dude and I love the website and your format for reviews. So I had four vocalists for the first album, and I had them all from one point to another and they would not get back to me, or stop talking. But Jeff would come in to the studio, because he and Ehren have been friends since I think they were kids so I said I think my vocalist is going to quit and I think I might need to ask you to do it. And he said ok I’ll do it. So when we did the second album, I knew exactly how he was going to sound, and what I had to work with, and I knew Flo and Oli can really do whatever they want. These guys could do this stuff in their sleep ha-ha so that’s why Seasons comes off far more focused.

So it was the right place and the right time

Jim-Yea he is a wicked cool guy all the guys are great, they don’t have any egos, they are really cool and great

So you are working on new material, are we going to see the same line up as on The Undying Season?

Jim-Yea totally they are all doing it, ha-ha I just talked to Oli the other day and he asked if he was slated to be doing the 3rd album and I was like uh yea dude. You know I am a fan of this music, and I hate seeing lineup change. So yea we are going to stick with the original line up, well the lineup for the second album. The first was based on necessity, and then the second basically came together. Especially when I was at the grid and Christian Donaldson said” hey would you like to use Flo?” and I was like uhhh yea!” and I asked about bass players, and Chris said “well you can use Forest from Beyond Creation, or you can use Oli” and I felt Forest is a great player, but I just dint think he would fit perfectly, and Oli was a fan of extreme metal so I felt  he was the one.

So you are working on new material,

Jim-We have three songs written so far, I wrote a new song every one to two days

So the rumor is that this is going to be a concept album, is this is true that you are doing a tribute album to the proclaimers?

Jim-Hahahahaha WTF, hahahahahahahaha no, I mean yea  it is a concept album, I have eleven tracks slated, and I do have a working title, but it is about mankind. It’s not going to be like the first and second album, I mean you will hear it and know its Solium Fatalis. So when I came up with the concept of the third album, I wanted to tell a story. I think empires die, you know I think somebody could hit the big red button and blow the whole world population up, wiped out. The world will continue, but it won’t be the world that you and I know. A lot of this is based on the world that I have seen, and being in a combat zone, and what people are really like as humans.

So is there anything you want the people to know about the undying season, or the new material

Jim-Well when it comes to The Undying Season, there is more to it than you realize, but the new music is going to be conceptual, complex esoteric, poetic, artistic and heavy!

So there you have it, Solium Fatalis is working on new material, and the line up will be the same. For those of you who don’t know much about this band let me give you the run down.

Jim Gregory is an experienced guitar player, who has served in the U.S armed forces, and loves metal.
Ehren Hill is the other guitarist for Solium Fatalis. He comes from Excrecor where he plays guitars and keyboards, and he runs things over at Iron Hill studios in New Hampshire.

Jeff Demarco does the vocals for Solium as well as for Excrecor.

Flo Mounier is a (legendary) name you should be familiar with, he is an original member of a pioneering  extreme/technical metal band Cryptopsy, he has been blowing peoples minds with his percussion skills for the past twenty years, and has been in various other projects including Digital Doomzday.

Olivier Pinard is the bassist for a few metal bands  including Cryptopsy, he has played with Neuraxis, and Akurion.

SO when you look at that line up its a no brainer that Solium Fatalis is a band you should familiarize yourself with.

To give you  a taste of what each member brings to the table  here are videos  of each member in action.

PUNCHING MOSES
Humanity Pandemic
Seeing Red Records
November 20, 2015

To Download this promo please click on band name…At its core, punk rock embodies the downtrodden, disgusting, and rotting underbelly of society. When forthright in their convictions, the practitioners of this outsider art form disrupt the conventional fabric of comfort and conformity with unadulterated rock & roll. No band delivers this quite like Cleveland, Ohio’sPUNCHING MOSES who load the rust belt gun, shove the barrel in your mouth, pull the trigger, and die laughing. With enough blood, sweat, angst, piss, vomit and vengeance to make Snake Plissken blush, this band of punk / metal veterans spare none in their path of destruction. Combining plenty of heavy riffage and metal tightness into their nasty punk cesspool, you won’t know whether to circle pit in your Discharge shirt or drive a ’78 Chevy in a Motorhead jacket through the wall of a church. Your eardrums, quite like your feelings, mean absolutely nothing!
Following in the footsteps of metallic hardcore legends, Integrity & Ringworm, PUNCHING MOSES do well paving their own path with their brand of “gutter thrash.” Invoking the attitude of Motorhead and MC5 in thier prime, mixed with the venom of bands such as The Accused and D.R.I., PUNCHING MOSES smartly combine these influences into a solitary clenched fist.

zLurid Memory Promo

  1. Whispers in the Dark

Sounds of whispering voices fade in slowly, with the sound of a clock tower chiming, and then the guitars come in with a driving riff, and the second guitar playing just a few moments of the riff adding as accents. The vocals let out a growl and the whole band is in it at this point. It has a solid groove made up of some blackened death metal progression. I like the way they utilize whispering vocals at certain points. The guitar solo around the 1:45 minute mark is a melodic guitar solo layered over blast beats.   With an Allegro tempo this song keeps things moving quickly within the rhythm and really locks down a groove you can head bang to. The last thirty seconds of the song plays out with a heavy rhythm and a guitar solo with some concert hall echo going on.

  1. Fantasy of the Terminal Moment

I like the way they start the song off with a riff panned to the right and a guitar riff panned to the left for a few bars building up to the first verse. The vocals slightly remind me of Aborted in the sound of the vocal delivery. The sound is crisp and tight, I like the seamless change to an amped up section at the 1:41 minute mark giving you that energetic style provoking you to really get moving. This song has an infectious groove to it, and requires you to hit the repeat button. Make it to the 3:00 mark and they take it to the next level with heavy bass appearance, and a melodic feel, only to gift the listener with a guitar solo sequence and rolling double bass for that concrete layer. This song has quite a few changes, each one is awesome. I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to this song.

  1. Pangea

The guitars playout acoustically with the sound of wind and solitary isolation set up another acoustic riff rolling along at a nice pace building and growing. This is an instrumental track, but man is it badass. It’s simple, however it’s like something you would have heard from an early Opeth album. Solid acoustic instrumental contribution.

  1. I Too……

A driving guitar riff and intermittent bass build up to the first verse, of double bass rolling rhythm and a solid driving riff. Right at the :40 second mark we hear the first awesome change I love this style of metal, as they are progressing along, and delivering some blackened death metal with ferocity. All the while building songs up and then delivering a serene melodic section sometimes filled with acoustic guitars, followed by an electric guitar solo. This song may be my favorite track on the album, however at the rate these songs have been impressing me, and it’s too early since there is one track left to listen to.

  1. Dematerialized

The song fades in at a decent pace and we hear the band giving us some impressive playing abilities. I can’t say it enough, the changes that occur, always turn out to be just right. They go from one badass section in the song to the next section that registers a notch above on my badassometer. I can honestly see this band being able to pull of thirteen minute long songs like Opeth used to, and having every section be impressive. It’s apparent that all members are very talented at their instruments.

Since this was the first time I have even heard Lurid Memory, I can tell you I am impressed and therefore I am a fan now. I did not know what I was getting into when I hit the play button, but it’s good. It is really good, they are like a blackened progressive death metal band. The vocals remind me of Sven from Aborted at times, and their musical stylings bring back memories of Opeth’s “ My Arms your Hearse” album, as it is equal parts grueling metal, and melodic progressive metal. For fans of Cynic, Gorguts, Death, Morbid Angel and Opeth. This five song EP is worth the buy, and is easily a solid 8.5/10. They have a solid sound, every change being impressive, all members showcasing their talent, and the sound quality is great.

Here’s a little youtube clip for the song “I Too….”
