Today the devil has brought us one of our favorite albums of 2016. It came out and really did not get the attention it deserved. There are several reason why this album is one of the best, and deserves credit. Let’s start with the borderline supergroup line up. First and foremost you have Jason Netherton on vocals. you know from Dying Fetus, and Misery Index, yea the guy knows metal, has actually given a presentation in Finland at the Modern Heavy Metal conference with notable names in metal like Scott Ian and many more. So my point being, Jason is a very important person in metal culture and had even put together a book on a look at the history of metal over the years. So yea the guy has taken metal to many extremes and documented them all. Now you throw in Shannon Lucas and you have the guy behind several BDM classics, and an all-around solid drummer. I mean these are only two members but they all come from bands like; GWAR, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Misery Index/ Dying Fetus. Driven and heavy brutal death/grind mashed up into a solid album with 13 tracks of blasting chaos. I will note, that while Misery Index is one of my all-time favorite bands, listening to Asphalt Graves is like listening to early Misery Index. Jason sounds more raw, and unfiltered. The guitars have that buzz saw distortion and are nailing down catchy rhythms in between face disfiguring brutal riffs. This album did not get enough credit, I felt I needed to revisit this album because it is just too damn good to leave unmentioned. Personal favorite tracks include; No Feast (Without Cruelty), Mass Graves, and Stop Resisting. We absolutely loved this album and look forward to more from this killer collaboration. 8/10\m/
